Multi-layer corrugated paper or plain cardboard, sometimes combined with plastic, glue, paint or metal foil, which complicates recycling.

A clean, non-greasy cardboard box can go to the blue trash (paper selective). If dirty, greasy, sticky or shiny plastic-coated box → municipal waste. Adhesive tape, plastic filler (e.g. blister foil) must be thrown separately, paper cannot go with it!

Due to e-commerce, it is generated in huge quantities. Many boxes are unnecessarily large or multi-layered, which is a waste. If it is greasy or combined with plastic, it cannot be recycled. Painted, lacquered, glossy cardboard is also often a mixed waste.
